If we close our eyes, the problems go away!

There are systemic issues nationally around SEN Education Access and the appropriate funding that goes with it.

Kent is exceptionally lacking, and even when they do allow access, as we know ourselves that the next fight is prising open the purse strings of the local authority.

For the council to blame the gap between need and provision on too many parents applying for and EHCP and demanding special school placements for their children, and god forbid the tribunal system AGREEING with them, instead of recognising their own failures to adequately support SEN children within early years settings and mainstream schooling, or valuing a childs needs over budget really boils my blood.

This article highlights the huge issue parents face on a daily basis, from trying to gain support for their child in the first place, to then actually gaining them a space in a suitable school, that isn’t miles away from home..

But sure, blame the parents, not the system.
